The women of The Bridge will gather to pray this evening as part of our Seek Solemn Assembly. The prayer gathering will take place at 7:30pm at the Silver Spring Civic Center. Scripture is filled with women who prayed amd served God faithfully. Luke 2:36-38 speaks of Anna the prophetess who served in the temple with fastings and prayers. In 1 Samuel, Hannah poured out her heart before the Lord as she yearned to birth a child. Godly women are women of prayer. Her greatest assets are her knees. She realizes that apart from God she can do nothing. While others think they are too busy to pray, she realizes that she’s too busy to not pray. I pray that God will be attentive as His daughters cry out to Him tonight.

There was a storm watch in our area yesterday. My wife and mother called me yesterday to check on me due to the weather. After turning on the TV, I found it was actually it was a tornado watch for our county! I must admit. I didn’t take it very seriously until it got extremely dark, the lights starting dimming in and out (as if our electricity had dimmer control), and the weather man froze on the television. Yeah! Spooky stuff. This was followed by some of the loudest thunder I’ve ever heard. I said, “Woe!” Praise God, we made it through the storm. One of the trees in our yard fell down, but that was about it. Most importantly, my wife was O.K. I’m spending a some time in Joshua 1. I thought it would be a great idea to remind myself of the key to success: walking in God’s Word.
I am continuously amazed at how practical God’s Word is. We often say, “We need to make the Word of God practical for people’s lives.” It is already practical. We simply need to preach what it says. God’s Word appear to be irrelevant to many because they aren’t aware of what Scripture teaches. That’s not just true for unbelievers, but believers as well. I’m preparing for Prison Break Part 2 and I’m like, “Man! It’s all here!” All we have to do is study it, people! Just take some time out of your schedule to study God’s Word. Trust me. It’s there!
