We’ve posted our first on-line message on The Bridge’s website. It’s not the best quality, but it’s a start. I’m learning that the less you compare yourself with others, the better off you will be!

We’re trying to do a free give away every time we finish a series. For our Life Spa series, we gave away bath salts. One of our volunteers worked hard in putting it together. This time, we are giving away free magnets. By the way, give-aways don’t have to be expensive. As I was placing the order, a customer representative from the printing company asked me about it. She said, “Why the godzilla, if you don’t mind me asking?” I seized the moment as an opportunity to tell her about the entire series. It’s amazing what doors God opens up!
This week’s lesson:
1. Surround yourself with mentors.
2. Resist the temptation of comparison. Comparing yourself to people who seem to be doing better than you can cause you to see God’s success in your life as failure.
3. Uncertainties are opportunities to trust in God to do what only He can do.
4. Guard your times with God and your family.
5. Reward behavior you want to see. Don’t reward the behavior you don’t want to see.
I found this video. Pretty interesting.
This week is coming to close. If you’re in the DC area, you know we’ve been getting alot of rain lately. My wife and I were taking a walk around the lake earlier this week. We began to notice that a good amount of water evaporated from the lake. She then said, “We need rain.” Two days later, bam! Rain.
I got a chance to speak with the Intervarsity Christian Fellowship at University of Maryland, College Park. It’s always a blessing to speak to college students. They are at such a crucial stage of life.
Yesterday, we launched out our series, The Fear That Haunts Me, at The Bridge. I truly had a great time. Our attendance was around the same number. But get this! At least eight of our regular attenders were out of town. If they were there on Sunday, our attendance would have gone up. Our records demonstrate that outside of the service teams, our regular attenders attendance is growing each week. We still have first time guests that are walking off the street on Sundays. All glory goes to God. Prior to us showing the video trailer, someone knocked out the audio plug. You guessed it. The trailer ended up being a silent movie. Some people actually thought it was a silent film. Hey. Works for me.
Yesterday evening, I had the opportunity to speak at Mosaic Community Church in place of my great friend, D-Plum. This weekend was his and Marquita’s anniversary. I am so excited for them and what God is doing in their lives. He asked me to speak on fear and faith, which freed me up to do a similar talk on Sunday morning and evening. Thanks, D. You’re the man.
I have two meetings today, so I wanted to grab some study time in this morning. Here’s one of the things I’ve learned. God gives us gifts and opportunities, but he does not give us fear along with it. The fear creeps in from another source. Our mission is to move forward in what He has called us to do while silmuntaneously warding off fear. We can either yield to fear or move forward in faith.
