Hello all! My name is Jumaine Jones. I have officially entered into the world of blogging…kinda. I also have a personal MySpace page (www.myspace.com/jumainejones) which I have not updated in centuries, but I figured I would give this one a shot. I’ll share a little bit about my life, as well as some things of substance. My wife, a team of people, and I are in the midst of starting a new church called The Bridge in the Washington DC area. As you can imagine, my plate is pretty full nowadays. My greatest challenge thus far has been learning when to switch out of church planting mode, especially when I’m at home. The new church is always on my mind. Starting a new church can be quite consuming, sort of like American Idol. However, I’m desperately seeking God and asking Him to show me when to take off my church planting clothes and put on my husband garb.
Congratulations on becoming a church planter! I have also just accepted a call to plant a church with a team of pastors. We’ll be in the Minneapolis area in Minnesota starting in June.
I have a blog about time management and personal productivity for pastors. I’d love for you to check it out. The principles in the book Getting Things Done have really transformed my ministry and have allowed me to get past that “all-consuming” nagging open project low-level stress stuff, so I can actually be productive.
I will be watching your blog and praying for God to bless your ministry and your church plant.
Jay
Congratulations, Jumaine! I am really happy for what you’re doing. It is a great experience for me to witness a young man after God’s heart as you are. And most of all, a leader who loves his wife. Thank God for men like yourself!
